Ashanti Kpoeta

Originally called Kpoeta, is a small town on the borders of Togo with Leklebi, Kpedze and Holuta as Ghanaian neighbors.

History says it that, the people of Kpoeta has two major clans. This two clans will always to quarell about the most little thing. It was from this misunderstandings that someone mentioned that one part behaves like the Ashantis’ and the ether like the Akyems’ ( two akan clans). The name became a nickname until it was fully adopted as names. The first town when entering from Ghana is Ashanti, when technology came the town need to find itself on the web, Ashanti was used instead of Kpoeta hence the name Ashanti Kpoeta.

The town has four divisions Ashanti, Achem, Adorfe and Kpodzi.

Kpoeta can boast of cocoa, coffee, cola, nutmeg, bitter cola, nigro pepper, black pepper, black berris, avocado, tangerine and any local fruit including vegetables of all kinds. Cassava and cocoyam cannot be left out.

We also have  two waterfalls the one in the picture and a smaller one called Torwlor.

Our main means of transport is motorcycle and with few lories and taxis.

Its about 1:30mins drive from the regional capital, Ho and about 175km from Accra. Major language is eʋegbe (Ewe) English and French as learnt dialects. We understand other languages including Twi and Gã..
